ALPAKA BLEND DUBBING is alpaka hair mixed with synthetic fibres. Alpaka hair has quite long but very soft fibres. Although it can be used to tie dry flies, wet flies and nymphs, it is very much used to tie dry flies and wet flies. In fact, some of the fibres in the alpaka hair are hollow inside and therefore offer excellent floatability.
It is attached to the tying thread with a special wax and can be used to imitate bodies, thoraxes the wings of your dry flies. If you want to make a voluminous thoraxes, simply make some dubbing strand little more fluffy and once tied to the hook you can comb them with male Velcro. This will give volume and movement to your artificial fly, imitating the insect's legs.
The right amount of synthetic fibres ensures that a good amount of glare and reflections are generated without making your imitation too artificial.
